Privacy Policy

KinderDraw is a drawing app for children aged 3–7. We collect as little as we can. This page explains what that is, in plain words.
The short version
- No accounts. We never ask for a name, email address or birthday.
- No ads, and no tracking or analytics tools from other companies.
- Your child's drawings stay on your device. We never receive them.
- Our server sees a random ID and a few simple counts when the app downloads shapes and letters. Details below.
What stays on your device
Drawings, the recent-drawings list, shapes and words your child creates, and downloaded shape collections are kept in the app's private storage on your device. They are never sent to us.
Photos. A grown-up can use a photo as the drawing background, either from the photo library or by taking one with the camera. The app first asks a quick multiplication question that a young child can't answer, and then asks your device for permission. It keeps a copy of the chosen photo inside the app, and that copy is not sent to us.
Saving a drawing. The "save image" button saves a copy of the drawing to your device's photo library. It asks the same multiplication question first, and then asks your device for permission. It can only add a picture. KinderDraw doesn't browse or copy your other photos, and nothing is sent to us.
What our server receives
The app connects to our server to download shapes, letters and word lists. It does this when the app opens, when Settings is opened, and when a collection is looked up or downloaded. Each time, our server gets:
- A random ID. The app makes it up the first time it runs. It isn't linked to your phone, your hardware, your advertising ID or you. A grown-up can see it in the app under Settings, then About (behind the multiplication question). Uninstalling the app deletes it from your device.
- The kind of device, for example iPhone or Android, so we know roughly which platforms people use.
- Simple counts. How many times the app has checked in, when it first and last did, and which collections it downloaded.
Like any internet service, our hosting handles your IP address briefly in order to send data back to you. We don't record it or keep it in our own records.
Why: to keep the service running, to see roughly how many devices use the app, and to learn which collections are popular. We do not use it for ads, for profiles, to follow a child across other apps or websites, or to contact anyone. We never sell it or share it for marketing.
We have no name, email or IP address to go with the random ID. Even so, we treat it as personal information and protect it that way.
Who else is involved
A cloud hosting provider runs our server and database, in the United States. It handles data only to provide that hosting for us.
The app store you download from (Apple, Google or Amazon) has its own privacy practices, which we don't control. We share nothing else with anyone, except if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- The random ID and its counts: deleted after 12 months without the app being used.
- Routine technical logs kept by our hosting provider: about 30 days.
Uninstalling the app doesn't remove records already on our server. The random ID simply stops being used, and is deleted with the rest after the period above. You can also ask us to delete it sooner. See "Your choices" below.
Children
KinderDraw is made for young children. It has no sign-up, chat, ads or social features, and no links to other websites. We don't knowingly collect a child's name, address, email, photo or location. The random ID is used only to run and improve the app, never for ads, profiles or tracking. We design KinderDraw to follow children's privacy laws such as COPPA.
Your choices
Asking us to delete what we hold. The random ID is what lets us find your records. To ask for deletion:
- Open the app, then Settings (a grown-up question comes first), then About.
- Copy the number under "Device ID (random)".
- Email it to contact@kinderdraw.com and say you'd like it deleted.
We'll delete every record we hold under that ID (its check-ins and its download counts) and confirm by email, within 30 days. We won't ask for your name or anything else. Anyone with the ID can make this request, so please keep it to yourself.
Deleting the records doesn't stop the app. While it stays installed, it keeps using the same ID and will start new counts under it. To stop that, uninstall the app. If you reinstall it later, it makes up a new ID. If the app is already uninstalled, the ID went with it, so we can't tell which records were yours, and they are deleted automatically after the period above.
Asking what we hold. Send us the same ID and we'll tell you exactly what's recorded for it: the kind of device, when it first and last checked in, how many times, and which collections it downloaded.
Depending on where you live, you may have extra rights, such as access, correction and deletion. If you're in Canada, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you're in the EU or UK, you can complain to your local privacy authority.

Security
The app and our server talk over HTTPS, and access to our database is limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care.
